| Perhaps another driving force for Picasso is Henri Matisse, who was creating
art during the same time. They met through Gertrude Stein and was encouraged
to be rivals in order to push their art to a new level (Scarborough). Together
they created arts that would revolutionize the twentieth century.
Picasso was obviously a very emotional and expressive man; otherwise there is no way he could have painted what he did. He definitely lived a rich and colorful life, evidenced by his many forms of art. Talent-wise, Picasso possessed the courage to step away from the shelter of Classical art and explored areas where nobody else dared. He was not afraid to rebel against the norms, and create his own style. "A work of art must make a man react, feel strongly, start creating too, if only in his imagination. He must be seized by the throat and shaken up; he has to be made aware of the world he's living in and for that he must first be jolted out of it." - Pablo Picasso Picasso will always be a legend, for his unparalleled creativity and his courage to experiment with new styles. He converted the many tragedies and happiness in life into arts that inspired and provoked thoughts. Following Picasso's footsteps, is life not the best inspiration of all? "You expect me to tell you: what is art? If I knew, I would keep my knowledge to myself." - Pablo Picasso
